A masterpiece of time and tradition, The Balvenie 40 Years Old is the culmination of four decades of patient maturation and the visionary craft of Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE. Drawn from a rare marriage of American oak and sherry casks, this limited release embodies the heart of The Balvenie: warm, honeyed, and deeply complex, yet always balanced with grace and restraint.
Every drop reflects the distillery’s commitment to traditional floor malting, in-house coppersmithing, and handcrafted aging—an authentic Highland malt elevated by time and elemental influence.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Deep and inviting. Notes of heather honey, dried apricot, and baked fig rise alongside polished oak, cinnamon, and aged leather. Hints of dark fruit and tobacco leaf suggest remarkable depth.
Palate: Silky and profound. Rich layers of stewed plum, toffee, and spiced walnut are met with treacle tart, oak tannin, and flashes of citrus oil. A supple, velvety texture lingers across the tongue.
Finish: Exceptionally long. Waves of cocoa, antique oak, and lingering spice glide into notes of dried orange peel and soft smoke.
The Balvenie 40 Years Old is not simply a whisky—it is a legacy bottled. A rare intersection of age, artistry, and the human touch that defines true craftsmanship.
